Tropea & Pizzo – to wander in hotness & feel the tranqulity

 Tropea- Queen of Calabria

Tranqulity of Pizzo

Calabria – the most south region of Italy, not often visited by foreign tourists,  it is also most poor part of Italy ,  with picturesque view on Tyrrenian Sea. It is surrounded  from the other side  , which is more flat, by Ionian Sea. The area is almost covered by mountain chains, highlands, with towns of ghosts with no habitants…

In August, when the air is hot and humid it was not easy to wander in the towns there, but as  new places haunters we could not avoid it permanently even with kids, whose bigest wishes were to catch small fishes in the sea.  So they observe  carefully sea food on the plates of our lunch.

Tropea– in summer overcrowded,  stands on massive rock, rises to a high of 42 metres above sea level. The church of Santa Maria dell’Isola is the most common point of the town. The beach – better to avoid in the high season, as it has no place to stand your foot, but it is awesome to see it up from the town.

Pizzo– a heaven of tranquility, charming little town with its castle on the cliff, made a bigger impression also with its famous and delicious ice-cream Tartufo.

Cycero, who stayed in Pizzo and gave the name to the „Seggiola” beach, sang its praises  as did the poet Antonino Aonile who was born here.
